In this post Im creating some explanation on assertiveness which will represent the main rules of the Tesla Research Forum and I will work on it progressivelly to offer the precise descriprion of every concept. For this reason the explanation will be under construction during an uncertain period of time.
Analising assertiveness:
Assertiveness is a set of behaviors that allows you to express your feelings, opinions, beliefs, and needs directly, openly and honestly in a positive way.
Assertiveness differs from aggression in fundamental ways. Aggressive people force others to meet their needs by using unpleasant means such as shouting, physical roughness, manipulation, or threats. In contrast, assertiveness is being able to express feelings, ask for something, or set limits without demanding results or intimidating people.
Why somebody is not assertive?
Assertiveness is not something that is inherited. Assertiveness is a skill that anyone can learn if he decided to. Lack of assertiveness usually result from the way a person was raised. If a child was constantly told that he must be nice in order for others to like him then he might not become assertive when he grows up.
The 6 C's to remember:
-Keep cool.
-Consider the other person's side of the matter.
-Communicate your feelings.
-Clarify how you would like the other person to behave.
-State consequences, both negative (if the behavior continues) and positive (if the behavior stops).
-Correct timing - choose the right moment when you and the other person are calm.
